New Delhi, 17 Jan 1999  –  Support through Blessings

Contemplation

The contemplation related to a certain adverse domestic situation with a resultant challenging situation.

Response as emerged from Shri Guru then:

“The situation was a blessing because it was the start of breaking of your ties with your children; it was a deep lesson being learnt in a very hard, rude and humiliating manner.

“For your son it was a blessing in that it took him away from the adverse domestic situation. In that sense it was protective for him.

“For you it was also a blessing because it was a lesson not to be complacent and dependent on others.”

21 Feb 1999, New Delhi  –  Relationship with Time, Attitude towards Time

First

Question offered to Shri Guru within

‘How can I stay in the right relationship with Time which gives the right relationship with God in every activity in life? What experience flows from it?’

Response as emerged from Shri Guru then:

“You can stay in the right relationship by being very conscious of every second as it goes by – tick, tock, tick, tock. And be very aware and alive.

“In particular be very aware of every action taking place around you and by you. Be very aware of every action at every second. So, in every moment, no matter when or what you are doing, be aware of your connection with time.

“The experience you get from it will be the experience of God.”

Next

The question offered was: ‘What is my attitude to time? Am I friendly to it? How can this relationship with time and my attitude to it be changed for the better. What thoughts can change it? What words can change it?’

Response as emerged from Shri Guru then – very significant instruction to me:

“Your attitude to time is like that of any other human being. You have good and adverse relationships to time and the same flows from your actions.

“The area where you are very unhappy is your specific bad habit. It is really an area where your relationship to time is worst. To change it you have to force God to work for you. You have to remember God always, and form the remembrance and awareness of all things as God, of time as God. And let this overpower your tendencies. It will succeed.

“Your negative actions flow from your ego – your tendency to look at yourself as better than God. Better than the Guru. And this is the formation of habit.

“To change it you must accept and realize that you have no life of your own. That you have no existence of yourself. That you must happily succumb to God’s gifts and (God’s) control on you, and flow in accordance with them.

“Your feeling of greatness must cease, and humility in face of God, in the form of time, must come to the forefront.”

11 April, 1999, New Delhi  –  Seva, what is Seva, Hindrances to Seva, Turning everything into Seva, Turning actions into Seva,  Importance of Practices

Few contemplations were placed before our venerable Master’s lotus feet are as given below.

First question offered: “O Lord, most beautiful and divine, most precious, most beloved – out of all of Shri Guru’s teachings on seva in Her talk I just heard, which is the one most important teaching which you feel is directly meant for me, ideally suited to me.”

Response as emerged from Shri Guru then:

“Seva is a dharma.

Seva is what you do.

Seva is everything you do.

Even your breathing is a form of seva. Respect it.

Respect everything you do. Love it. Love everything you do.

“Even if you do not like what you do, still, just because you are doing it, – so respect it. So, love it.

“Give every action your best shot. Otherwise, don’t do it.”

Second question offered: “O Lord, most divine, most supreme, full of glories, beyond description. My humble salutations at Your lotus feet. Please tell me, O Lord, why am I unable to do everything as seva, why am I unable to detach myself from all my actions, what should I do to correct this so that I can do everything as seva?”

Response as emerged from Shri Guru then:

“You are unable to do your day-to-day activities in the form of seva because of your selfish attachments to everything. You view everything as separate from you. You treat everything as different from you. You, as a result, do not respect it. You do not love everything and everyone as a part of yourself, as being yourself.

“Try global recognition. Try seeing everything as yourself only. It will work. It will work. That is my firm assurance.

“Do not worship your attachments. Instead, worship detachment from every action. Stop trying to do everything for yourself. Stop narrowing everything to a limited pursuit. Try the unlimited. Try the universe. Be big. Forget about results. Forget about rewards. Do everything out of love, out of joy, out of respect.

“O Virender, be great. Worship greatness. Worship your true nature.”

Third question offered to Shri Guru:

“Tell me, O Lord, beloved and dearest, tell me, my greatest God – why is it that I cannot turn my life to seva. Why is it that I cannot make my work and all my actions seva?”

Response as emerged from Shri Guru then:

“The reason that you cannot turn your life to seva is because you lack inner strength –   मजबूती

“This can only be rectified by the practices – to be followed with great discipline and resoluteness. Only the practices can firm you up.

“Now it is very good to contemplate Shri Guru and chant, etc. But it is not enough.

“You have to do the practices.”

Next question offered: “What should I do to so turn my thoughts that all my work becomes seva?”

Response as emerged from Shri Guru then:

“First – be very alert, very alive all the time. Watch out for negative thoughts. Catch them as they are coming up. Nip them in the bud. Send them packing. Do not carry them out.

“Second – be detached. Detach yourself from your actions – how they are done, who will do them, the fruit or result thereof. Un-attach completely.

Let it take time. Just do it. Do it.”

Next question offered: “Once again, what do I need to do to convert myself into a person whose actions are all seva? What should I do to change myself?”

Response as emerged from Shri Guru then:

“Leave it all to Me, the Guru.

Surrender all to Me, the Guru.

Offer everything to Me, the Guru.

Have confidence in Me.

Have faith in Me.

I will work something out for you.

But offer every action, I repeat every action, to Me.

Then forget about it completely.

Leave it to Me. It will become My responsibility.

“I am the Guru, and I will settle it for you.”

03 May 1999, GSP  –  Faith and a Still Mind

Question offered: “How do I make my mind still and powerful? What makes the mind upset and angry? How can that be rectified?”

Response as emerged from Shri Guru then:

“The root cause and of being upset and agitated in your case, is always the lack of confidence in Me. This lack of faith makes every situation difficult to handle and deal with. If you have faith then the end result of any situation is never in doubt because it will be the best that I have meant for you.

“So, if you develop faith and confidence then the source of agitation of the mind will go. It will constantly settle for being peaceful. So have faith that I will only let things happen for your good. It is My assurance to you.

“Do not treat this as an excuse to not work. Instead redouble your efforts, keep working on plans and strategies, but always do it from a position of confidence in Me, and not of end result going only as you want it to go.”

07, 08 Aug 1999, GSP  –  On Becoming a good Soul

Question offered to the lotus feet of Bade Baba: ‘O beloved Bade Baba, O my great Master, O pure and divine One – please tell me what do I want to be, what do I want to become, what should I do? Pray tell me O Bhagwan.’

The response as emerged from Bade Baba was:

“O Virender, you only want to be my child. There is nothing else you want to be. This you already are.

You only want to love Me, which you do. You just want to be Mine, which you will be, in a little time.

And you only want to be a good soul and a good person. You are becoming one.

“So become one, Virender, become one. Become a good soul. This is the only thing that can give you true joy.

So be disciplined, be resolute. Have a good character. It is important.

By doing this you will serve Me, and you will serve God.

It is good to become that which you want to become.

“I will help you achieve it. I will help you because I love you.

Have no fear. Be without fear. Be fearless. I am with you always. Believe that. It is true.”

There was one other fleeting contemplation in which a prayer was offered to Bade Baba to reveal himself in me. The response from Bade Baba was:

“I am already revealed in you.”

27 Aug 1999, Gurudev Siddha Peeth  –  On Overcoming Fear

Question as offered at lotus feet of Shri Guru was, ‘How do I choose to remain limited because of fear?’

The response that emerged within, then and there, from the divine master was:

“You choose to remain limited because of two reasons: –

One, you fear you will not be able to live up to the expectations of those around you, and,

Two, you also fear, in fact you dread, that you will not be able to live up to the requirements of Siddha Yoga.

“In the first case you should not worry about others’ expectations, particularly of your children. That will be fully taken care of. You know that already. Believe it.

“About Siddha Yoga, keep doing the practices as much as you can. That is the only way. The needful will be done.

“Do not fear. I am with You.”

Next contemplation. Question contemplated was, ‘In what ways does fear manifest in my life?’ I offered a silent prayer to Shri Guru and then offered the question internally to Gurumayiji.

The flow in response from Shri Guru was:

“You choose to lean on your senses, your negative habits, your weaknesses. These are also out of fear and nothing else. The fear manifests in many ways. So become fearless, have no fears.

“Keep doing the practices. These habits will wash away easily. Do not fear.”

Next contemplation.

The question before the lotus feet after an inner prayer was, ‘Keeping in mind that I have a divine place of fearlessness inside me, and that I have God’s help, what can I do that can help me undo this fear, and other fears holding my mind down, holding me down?’

The golden words that immediately emerged as the response from our most noble Gurumayiji were:

“The only thing you have to do is to have absolute, supreme and complete faith in the Guru.

“You have to have complete faith in Me. I alone am the root cause of fearlessness. I alone can, and will, remove your fear.

“But for that do not falter – have supreme faith. Beyond that you need nothing else. Leave it all to Me.”

11 Sep, 1999, New Delhi  –  Importance of Stilling the Mind, Why a Still Mind, Our True Nature

Question offered at the lotus feet of our illustrious Master was as follows: “O my beloved Lord who are beyond compare, O most beloved of all, O One revered by all, O most pure most noble One, O perfect One, I offer salutations at Thy lotus feet, O Master. O Shri Guru, please tell me O my Lord, why is stilling the mind so important for me? Pray tell me O Lord and Master, please tell me.”

The flow in response received immediately there itself from Gurumayiji, was as follows:

“O Virender, stilling the mind is of utmost importance. It is important not only for you but for everyone else.

“It is important because only when the mind is stilled is pure, perfect and lasting joy felt. In life everything is done by human beings to find joy. But that joy comes and goes. It is fleeting and often it is achieved by improper means.

“When the mind is stilled the peak of joy is automatically released. This joy stays permanent. It becomes forever.  It requires nothing to be done to create it. It is the greatest human achievement.

“From the still mind come all achievements. Great thoughts, great works.

“So important is the still mind that it is a pity that mankind has forgotten this. Forgotten that their great achievements always come from still minds and deep inner quiet.”

Next contemplation

Question offered by me at the lotus feet of the Master as follows: “O Lord, O my Shri Guru, O beloved Master, salutations again and again at Thy lotus feet. Pray tell me, O Guru what is my true nature? Who am I actually? Please tell me O Guru, who are the cause of my being. I plead to You. I beg of You.”

The flow in response received immediately from Gurumayiji, was as follows:

“O Virender, you are God. You are the highest. There is nothing greater than you. You are the Supreme. You are Me and I am you. We exist as one – you and I. And nothing exists other than this.

“It is only your thinking, your thought process, that makes you feel you are this, and others are that. However, the basic, original, truth is that as pure and divine energy you alone exist.

“You have manifested this world. You have created everything. That is your true nature. That is what you are.

“You will experience this only from a still mind. Your greatness will shine only when your mind is still. Mankind will look up to you, they will follow you, only when your mind is still.

“So be in peace.”

11 Sep 1999, New Delhi  –  Faith, Shradha, Practices and Discipline

Question offered within: ‘O Lord, Shri Guru, I offer Thee humble salutations. Pray tell me O Guru – what is faith? What is Shradha? Please tell me O Guru who are so dear to me.’

Response as emerged:

“Faith is love.

Shradha is love.

If there is no love, you do not believe.

If there is love, you believe.

So having supreme love is supreme faith.

“Having supreme faith is accepting as absolutely true, with absolute certainty, and with absolute love. The deep love ensures the certainty. It brings about the certainty.

“So, you have to believe because you love. You have to love because you believe.

“Remember, you have to act from that state of certainty.

“That is faith. That is Shradha.”

Further Contemplation

Question offered within: ‘O Lord please tell me, what can I do to overcome my laziness and sloth, and take to my practices regularly. In particular I refer to meditation.’

Response as emerged:

“Be disciplined. Just be disciplined and love it, the practice. That is all.

“You will worship. You will love your practice. You will do it regularly. So be disciplined.

“Chant a bit more. Chant all the time. Think of Shri Guru all the time. You will be able to step into your practices early.”

12 Sep, 1999, New Delhi  –  Why we are on the Dharma Path, What we Learn on the Dharmic Path, Usefulness of Knowledge, Guru is the antar Atman

Few contemplations are placed below.

First

The question placed at the lotus feet of Shri Guru was: ‘O Lord, beloved Master, most noble Shri Guru. Pray tell me, O my beloved innermost Self, my Shri Guru – why am I on this dharmic religious path?’

Response from Shri Guru as emerged immediately was:

“You are travelling this path because of love.

“Love for God, love for Me as your Guru, love for the whole of humanity.

“You are travelling this path because there is a need for this love to be spread to humanity. For mankind to be awakened, to be reminded that they too are a part of this love.

“This supreme love is God’s state. It is the state of supreme knowledge. It is My state. It will become your state. That is My assurance.

“The whole of mankind has moved from a position of strength to one of weakness. They have lost their sense of wonder. They have lost their sense of caring for each other, for everything.

“So that mankind, including you, may return to a state of respecting, loving and caring – for that you are on this path.”

Second

Tell me O Guru, ‘Why am I trying to learn all this – what is it that I am trying to learn?’  As I could not undertake this on 12th, I contemplated it two days later on 14 Sep.

The flow in response from the Master was:

“You are trying to learn how to lead a steady, calm life full of love for everyone and everything.

“You hope to learn how to love. You hope to learn how to see everyone and everything as God. You hope to learn how to respect all of God’s creation as your own Self and so to avoid using it for any personal ends or means.

“You wish to learn how to serve Me, how to surrender to Me, because you know that there is no other way to come to Me except for the path of love and the path of surrender. All other paths will finally bring you here – to love, to devotion, to surrender. This then is your deepest desire.

“You want to learn so very much that you are concealing it from your own self.”

Third Contemplation

Question then offered was, ‘Tell me O beloved Lord, how will this knowledge help me in this life?’

“This knowledge is not meant to help you, or your life as you know it. This is uplifting knowledge. It is meant to help others. You are already uplifted and will continue to be so. Helping others being uplifted is how this knowledge will help you.

“So be careful about it. Be watchful. Be respectful. Cherish it. It will be your support.

“Be in love with love. And above all be in peace.”

Fourth Contemplation

The following question placed at Shri Guru’s feet: ‘O mighty and most beloved Lord, salutations to Thee. Please tell me, O Lord who are so dear to me, pray tell me – how do I experience my antar Atman (indwelling Lord), my inner Soul, my Self?’

Her response as emerged immediately then itself, from within was:

“Know that I am your antar Atman.

I am your soul.

I am you.

You experience Me as your inner throb of ecstasy. I am the source of all your knowledge. I am the source of all you know.

What you know is also Me.

“I am your mind. When you control your mind, you control Me. In this control resides My form of love, My form of bliss, My everlasting state of happiness and joy.

“I burst forth through your stilled mind.

“That is how you experience Me as your antar Atman, your soul.”

12 Sep, 1999, New Delhi  –  Living with Understanding that Everything is Shiva

Prayer placed at the Guru’s feet within: ‘O Lord, O Guru, who have become each and every thing, I offer You humble salutations. Please tell me, O Guru, if I had spent my life so far with the understanding that everything was Shiva, everything was God, how would my life have been different?’

The response from Gurumayiji as emerged immediately was:

“O Virender,

“If you had lived life with this understanding right from birth, you would have merged in Me by the age of ten.

“You would have been a bundle of joy, of happiness, of bliss. People would have washed their sorrows away in your joy. Just the thought of you would give them unending joy.

“You would have loved God. You would have become God. No one would have borne enmity towards you.

“Whatever you would have set out to do you would have done. Your desire would have been only one – the uplifting of humanity, bringing everyone to Me.

“You would have been my most ardent devotee. All creatures would have loved you and from you would have learnt humility, calmness and inner silence. They would have derived extreme strength and resolution.

“Your family would have loved you. You would be very dear to them and they to you.

“You would have no quarrels with anyone. Whatever I gave you, you would have been happy with that, very happy. Even one breath given as a gift to you, just one breath, would have been more than you could handle. Your life would have been one of gratitude. It would flow out of you – gratitude.

“So, all this you can still become, and so can everyone else if they just tried to do so.

“You would be me, and I you.”
